The Ultimate Arlington Summer Bucket List!

The clock is ticking! No time to waste! Like a rubber band that is pulled back and ready to fly, so is summer.

If you feel like there is a lot to cram in and not a lot of time to do it, you’re right. Rather than feel like you’ve blinked and all of a sudden it’s Labor Day Weekend, make a list! Even better, keep it simple and make it an Arlington Bucket List!

We've pulled together some suggestions to get you started….

Cruise the Minuteman Bikeway. From Alewife to Bedford and back, you’ll go from city to country, and back to the city in an afternoon with plenty of places to stop along the way.

Shop the Arlington Farmer’s Market. Every Wednesday starting June 8 from 2:00 – 6:30 it’s their farm to your table.

Take in the history.  Tour the historic Jason Russell House, the Old Schwamb Mill, and the Cyrus E. Dallin Art Museum and learn more about the historic depth and character of Arlington.

Get out on the Water. Canoe or Kayak on Spy Pond and take in the peaceful sights and sounds of nature.

Go to a Show. The Regent Theater offers live music, theater, dance events, film specials and family entertainment. Want to catch the latest flick? Head over to the Capitol Theater for a matinee.

See some of the best views of Boston. Whether it’s a sunrise or moonrise over the city, the views of Boston from Robbins Farm Park are second to none.

Visit the Reading Room of Robbins Library. The Robbins Library is a town gem, with a beautiful Reading Room that has a fireplace, marble mosaic floor, antique oak wall, marble columns and gold leaf accentuated arches and ceiling.

Take a class with at Arlington Community Education or Arlington Center for the Arts. The more you know… you know?

Learn how to toe pick or hockey stop. Ice Skate at the Ed Burns ArenaAll levels and abilities welcome. If you’re worried about looking silly, let it go.

Take a Hike. With plenty of trails, picnic areas, a pond and playground – there is something for everyone at Menotomy Rocks Park.

Or a stroll. Shopping local makes you look good and feel great. Park the car and stroll the shops on Mass. Ave. – you’d be surprised at the shops you miss by driving!

Arlington Life’s a Beach. The Arlington Reservoir Beach has sand, sun, shade and none of the hassle of traffic and parking! There are lifeguards, a snack bar, playground, bathrooms, showers - The Arlington Res has it all!

Festivus for the Rest’ve Us. Arlington loves a reason to celebrate, and we’ve got plenty of gatherings throughout the years to mix, mingle, create and celebrate. In June there is PorchFest, a community arts and music event, Feast of the East in Capitol Square, the Arlington Greek Festival, The Moonlight Beach Party at Reservoir Beach, The Arlington Center Holiday Stroll, and of course nothing beats Arlington Town Day with everything Arlington has to offer – history, community, games, music, food, fun, families, and fireworks! It's a great time to get out and see why so many people choose to call Arlington home!
