Brrr It's Cold Outside, Let's Go to the Movies!

On November 18, our team held a screening of Trolls Band Together with so many of our favorite faces at the Somerville AMC, and we had a great time. A lot of our team has been frequenting the theatres recently, so we decided to share our recent favorites and what we are looking forward to releasing soon!

Our Recent Favorites

Priscilla (R) — Another Sofia Coppola masterpiece about Priscilla Presley, who also served as an executive producer on the film. Jacob Elordi and Cailee Spaeney portray the king and his wife in this masterfully done film that has an 83% on Rotten Tomatoes (a higher rating than Elvis (2022) which has 77%)! 

Killers of the Flower Moon (R) — Martin Scorcese’s newest project on the betrayal members of the Osage nation underwent in 1920s Oklahoma. This true story is sure to leave you feeling angry and shocked. It sits with a 92% on Rotten Tomatoes, quite a high ranking for a three-and-a-half-hour movie! 

Saltburn (R) — Emerald Fennell’s thrilled comedy is sure to turn heads and make jaws drop after her directorial debut with Promising Young Woman. Saltburn is currently sitting with 70% on Rotten Tomatoes, we’ll see how this changes in the coming weeks since it was just released a few days ago. 

Trolls Band Together (PG) — The newest edition to the Trolls series, is a fun movie for the entire family. Critics say it’s entertaining for all ages and sends a positive message to viewers everywhere, despite its current 63% on Rotten Tomatoes. 

Wish (PG) — The newest release from Disney Pixar, Wish is another great movie for folks of all ages. The movie uses the power of the universe and the magic of the stars to create wonderful things. It currently has 49% on Rotten Tomatoes. 

The Hunger Games: The Ballad of Songbirds & Snakes (PG-13) — After a long-awaited return to the big screen, the newest movie in this series has been received incredibly well by fans everywhere. The Hunger Games: The Ballad of Songbirds & Snakes gives the backstory to President Snow before he was evil and making him a sympathetic character has proven challenging for viewers. Currently, the movie has a 66% on Rotten Tomatoes. 

Coming Soon

Poor Things (R), Releasing December 8 — A new release from Yorgos Lanthimos this film is based on a novel of the same name published in 1992 by Alasdair Gray. It’s rumored to be Frankenstein-esque, but filled with many more traps and twists. 

Wonka (PG), Releasing December 15 — Timothée Chalamet stars as a young Willy Wonka telling the backstory of the master chocolatier and the Oompa-Loompas. 

Migration (PG), Releasing December 22 — From Universal Pictures, Migration is about a family of ducks going on a vacation to New York City and it’s a little against the grain.

Anyone But You (R), Releasing December 22 — Critics have good things to say about this rom-com that apparently is going to bring rom-coms back. Top Gun: Maverick's Glen Powell and The White Lotus' Sydney Sweeney star in hopefully everyone’s new favorite enemies-to-lovers movie. 

Mean Girls (not yet rated), Releasing January 12 — Twenty years after the original Mean Girls release, Broadway star Reneé Rapp in a musical version of the iconic movie. The box office is sure to be packed for this movie.
