We are thrilled to announce our very first of Arlington’s Finest, our neighbor and business owner, Sheridan Kahmann!
Owner of Sheridan Kahmann Photography, SKP, she has been capturing memories since 2011 and opened her studio in 2022. Originally from New York, Sheridan moved to Arlington in the early 1990s and stayed for the long haul, “I feel comfortable in Arlington. I’ve made so many friends, I’m very fortunate in that regard. It’s so close to everything and people are so kind,” she said.
Growing up, Sheridan was enamored by the artistic photos in her mother’s Vogue and Bazaar magazine issues and became obsessed with photographers like Richard Avedon, Annie Liebowitz, and Irving Penn. She went on to study photography, manage a photography studio in New York, eventually working at the Museum of Fine Arts in Boston, and ultimately own her own company specializing in headshots, personal and corporate branding, and modern portrait sessions.
This is what Sheridan had to say about what inspires her and what she hopes for her clients. “What’s important to me is showing people their full potential in front of a camera. Most people have never been professionally photographed before, and they can be a bit uncomfortable in front of the camera. After working with them, I feel that I am able to show people their best self, which is a true confidence builder. I have my clients best interest in mind, so I help them pose and give them suggestions of what will be flattering to wear. Our time together ultimately culminates in a joyous experience, beautiful photos, and helps boost the confidence of my clients.”
Arlington has been home for over thirty years for Sheridan and she is truly thankful for this community. Her favorite way to stay involved with Arlington is by far, Town Day. She said she loves seeing past and future clients in their element and getting to speak with fellow Arlingtonians.
