This month, we’re proud to honor Tim O'Leary as one of Arlington’s Finest, recognizing his remarkable dedication to our community and his ongoing commitment to making Arlington a better place for everyone.
Tim is a familiar face around town – active, engaged, and always ready to lend a helping hand. As a long-time participant in many programs through the Arlington Council on Aging, Tim embodies kindness and community spirit. He approaches every opportunity to connect with warmth and gratitude, making others feel welcomed and valued wherever he goes.
In addition to his local involvement, Tim proudly served our country – a story he shares in this video interview, reflecting on his experiences and lifelong dedication to service and community.
Beyond his work with the Council on Aging, Tim gives generously of his time to several important local organizations and initiatives. He serves on the Municipal Vulnerability Preparedness (MVP) 2.0 Climate Committee, contributing to efforts that help Arlington prepare for and adapt to the challenges of climate change. He also participates in community programming through ACMi, supporting local media and storytelling that bring our town together.
Tim’s commitment to civic engagement extends even further – he ran in a town-wide election for the Board of Commissioners of the Arlington Housing Authority, reflecting his dedication to advocacy and representation within the community. As an active board member of the Winslow Towers Tenant Association, he continues to support residents and strengthen the sense of community within Arlington’s senior housing. His leadership and compassion make him a trusted voice among peers and a valued contributor in every group he joins.
When he’s not volunteering or serving on committees, Tim can often be found sharing his love of music as Bass #1 in the Arlington-Belmont Chorale, a 70-member group that enriches the local arts scene through community performance. He also enjoys participating in the Robbins Farm Organic Garden through Arlington Parks and Recreation, nurturing both the environment and connections with fellow residents.
As part of his recognition, Tim chose to make his donation to FoodLink, Arlington’s local food pantry. His generosity reflects his ongoing commitment to ensuring that everyone in our community has access to nutritious food and essential support.
Tim’s kindness, humility, and active engagement remind us what it means to truly be a neighbor. He represents the best of Arlington’s older adult community and serves as an inspiring example of how one person’s steady involvement can have a lasting impact.
Thank you, Tim, for all that you do to keep Arlington strong, connected, and compassionate.
