For the month of November, we proudly recognized local veteran Bill Hayner as our honoree.
Bill has called Arlington home for 45 years, and during that time, he has made a lasting impact on nearly every corner of our community. A Vietnam War veteran, Bill went on to spend almost three decades teaching in the Arlington Public Schools, shaping the lives of countless students. His commitment to education continued through his work on the Arlington School Committee, and his dedication to fellow veterans led him to serve on the Veterans Council.
In 2013, Bill joined the Arlington Rotary Club, where he has been an active and spirited member. His efforts to raise funds for polio research–a cause close to his heart. During the height of the pandemic, Bill spearheaded the Rotary’s Polar Plunge event–held annually at the St. Camillus parking lot–which has since become a community tradition.
Bill’s involvement, leadership, and willingness to give back reflect the heart of what makes Arlington such a special place. His service to our country and his decades of service to our town are deeply appreciated. Those who know Bill consistently describe him as thoughtful, generous, and genuinely committed to helping others.
We extend our sincere thanks to Bill for everything he has done, and continues to do, for the Arlington community.
