October in Arlington: Community Updates, Local Events & More

From a special recognition for our team to community initiatives and seasonal traditions, here's what's happening in Arlington and beyond this October.

October is here, bringing cooler temperatures, changing leaves, and plenty of opportunities to get involved in our local community. This month, we're sharing some exciting news from our team, highlighting a local initiative making a difference for families across Greater Boston, and rounding up a few upcoming events worth adding to your calendar.

Steve McKenna & The Home Advantage Team Inducted into Club XV

We're proud to share that Steve McKenna & The Home Advantage Team have been inducted into Club XV, an exclusive group of top-performing real estate associates at Gibson Sotheby's International Realty.

Club XV recognizes exceptional achievements in sales and celebrates real estate professionals who consistently demonstrate excellence in the industry.

For our team, this recognition is particularly meaningful. For more than 35 years, we've had the privilege of helping buyers and sellers throughout Arlington and Greater Boston navigate one of life's most important decisions.

As Arlington's #1 real estate team since 1991, our commitment has always extended beyond the transaction. It's about building lasting relationships, providing personalized guidance, and helping our clients achieve their real estate goals.

To our clients, colleagues, and partners: thank you. Your continued trust, loyalty, and referrals have been instrumental in achieving this distinction. We are grateful for the opportunity to serve our community and look forward to what comes next.

Helping Our Littlest Neighbors in Need: Metro-Boston Diaper Drive

One of the things that makes our community special is the willingness of neighbors to support one another.

This October, we're highlighting the Metro-Boston Diaper Drive, an initiative helping provide essential supplies to families experiencing diaper insecurity.

As of July, the Somerville WIC office expanded its service area from 8 to 19 communities, including Arlington, Bedford, Belmont, Burlington, Cambridge, Everett, Lexington, Lincoln, Malden, Medford, North Reading, Reading, Somerville, Stoneham, Wakefield, Watertown, Wilmington, Winchester, and Woburn.

Despite this expanded reach, the need remains significant. According to The 74, 47% of families report difficulty providing all the diapers they need.

Diapers are an everyday necessity, yet the cost can create a substantial financial burden for families. Community-supported initiatives like the Metro-Boston Diaper Drive help address that need.

How to help: Donations are being accepted through October 17, 2026. If you're able to contribute, every donation can help support families in our surrounding communities.

What's Happening Around Arlington This October?

Whether you're looking to learn something new or enjoy a favorite fall tradition, Arlington has a few upcoming events worth checking out.

Plug In Screening: The Little Things That Run the World

Wednesday, October 21 | 7:00 PM

Robbins Library's Plug In series, designed for adults ages 50 and older, will feature a screening of the award-winning documentary The Little Things That Run the World.

The film introduces viewers to a diverse group of scientists, nature lovers, gardeners, farmers, and insect enthusiasts as they explore the important role flying insects play in our environment.

With insect populations declining rapidly, the documentary examines why these often-overlooked creatures matter and what their disappearance could mean for the natural world.

It's an opportunity to learn more about the ecosystems around us and gain a new appreciation for some of nature's smallest contributors.

Spooky Walk: A Beloved Arlington Tradition

Saturday, October 24 | 6:30–8:00 PM

Rain Date: Sunday, October 25

Location: Menotomy Rocks Park, Jason Street entrance

Looking for a family-friendly way to celebrate Halloween? Arlington's beloved Spooky Walk returns to Menotomy Rocks Park this October.

Visitors can follow a path around the pond illuminated by luminaria, lanterns, and pumpkins, stopping along the way to explore a series of themed "spooky stations."

Costumes are encouraged for children and adults alike, making this a fun seasonal outing for the whole family.

A few things to keep in mind before heading out: parking is limited, and some sections of the path are unlit. Be sure to bring a flashlight or glow sticks to help light your way.

Whether it's your first visit or an annual family tradition, Spooky Walk is a wonderful way to celebrate Halloween and enjoy one of Arlington's local parks.

From celebrating professional milestones to supporting local families and enjoying seasonal traditions, October offers plenty of reasons to appreciate the community we call home.

At Steve McKenna & The Home Advantage Team, we're proud to be part of Arlington and Greater Boston, not just as real estate professionals, but as neighbors.

We hope these updates inspire you to get involved, explore something new, or reconnect with a favorite local tradition.
