"Green, for lack of a better word, is good. Green is right. Green works. Green clarifies, cuts through, and captures, the essence of the evolutionary spirit."
If Gordon Gekko were to adjust his 'Greed is Good' speech from the movie Wall Street to take on a more environmentally-friendly tone, it would probably look something like this. Being green is good, especially if you participate in this worthwhile (and free) program promoted by Sustainable Arlington, a local group that advocates climate stabilization and other important environmental goals. These free energy assessments are available through the Mass Save program, an initiative sponsored by Massachusetts gas and electric utilities and energy-efficiency service providers. "Residents who get a home energy assessment and follow up on the suggestions made during the assessment will benefit by lowering their energy use, which reduces their utility bills and improves comfort. This is a home run for residents," says Rob Garrity, executive director at Massachusetts Climate Action Network (MCAN). Every household that gets an assessment will receive a detailed report showing the work done during these visits and a list of recommended actions.
