The fall market is behaving as the fall market does – it’s quick, a little temperamental, and over before you know it. Unlike the ‘Spring’ market which really begins at the end of January and methodically ramps up until it peaks in early June, the fall market is a flash in the pan with things heating up after Labor Day and cooling off in time for the holidays (though don’t think that the holidays aren't a micro-market in their own right).
As we’ve mentioned, while it might feel like a constant state of low inventory in Greater Boston, there are in fact more homes on the market than last year at this time in both Arlington and Medford. But homes are selling faster and for higher prices than last year and that is keeping the market competitive.
- Home buyers who may have been feeling distraught at the lack of inventory should take some comfort in a loosening of the market.
- Home sellers who may wonder if it’s still a good time to sell should know that homes are still moving quickly and for good terms.
