Steve McKenna & The Home Advantage Team

Going Back...Wayyy Back (Real Estate #TBT)

In 1986 mustaches were not just for Movember. In 1986 a Tandy 600 Portable Computer was $1599.00, a Ford Mustang was $7,452, a gallon of gas was .89, and the Boston Red Sox played the New York Mets in the Worlds Series - and that's all we need to say about that.

If you were born in 1986 you're turning 28, so happy birthday. Or maybe in '86 you had big hair and braces and watched every episode of the Cosby Show. Or you might have tossed your Members Only jacket on the La-Z-y Boy recliner and listened to some Van Halen on your boom box after work.

1986 was a memorable year for me because that's when I began my career in real estate. Things were a little different back then for real estate, too:

  • Interest rates: 7.50%
  • Average cost of new house: $89,430
  • Median price of an existing home: $80,300
  • Average income per year: $22,400.00
  • Average monthly rent: $385.00

Twenty-eight years later and I have the same address on my business card - I also have the same commitment of providing each of my clients with the highest quality of professional service.

While these things have remained constant, Arlington real estate has changed throughout the years and I've adapted right along with it. Besides losing the mustache, I was the first person in town to have a PC, I was one of the first agents in town to launch their own website (www.yourhomeforsale.com), and I continue to hire staff and support which keep me head and shoulders above the competition.

#TBT is a fun way to look back to see how far we've come, but it's also a great reminder of why we keep moving ahead.

Moving Forward by Giving Back in 2015

We are thankful to all the wonderful people who continue to choose us for their real estate needs. Steve McKenna & The Home Advantage Team continues to be the #1 team in Arlington, and one of the top teams in the Greater Boston area.

Because of you, 2014 has been a great year and we thank you for that!

As we move forward into 2015, we want to give back to the community that makes our work not only possible - but incredibly rewarding and enjoyable.

In the spirit of 'doing good while doing well,' we will be donating $10,000 dollars - $2500 per quarter over the course of the year - to Arlington charities in need. Our first donation will go to the Arlington Heating Assistance Program.  We hope this contribution helps ease the burden of heating costs on our neighbors.

"From what we get, we can make a living; what we give, however, makes a life." - Arthur Ashe

Steve McKenna presents a check of $2500 to Christine Bongiorno, Director of Health and Human Services for the Town of Arlington.

    It Was An Eventful Year!

As in, a year full of events. Part of what makes The Home Advantage Team exceptional is our commitment to serving both clients and the community. We make an effort to pay it forward by giving back. By ‘doing’ and donating. Earlier this month Steve McKenna & The Home Advantage Team contributed $10,000 to community organizations including $2,000 each to The Arlington Boys & Girls Club, Arlington EATS, The Arlington Food Pantry, and Arlington Fuel Assistance.

We also give back by giving our time and creating opportunities to bring clients together –whether it is to inform (like the Arlington Home Show) or just for fun (like a private viewing of the Grinch). It’s our way of providing that extra something special for you.

These are just some of the events organized and hosted by the team in 2018. We have more on the horizon for 2019 so be sure to check in with us or sign up to our website to be sure you get the latest updates!

What Does Precision Teamwork Look Like?

You can imagine what it takes to fly an aircraft 18 inches apart going upwards of 700 miles an hour. Precision is essential, and achieving that level of expertise doesn’t happen overnight.

Malcolm Gladwell says it takes 10,000 hours of practice to become a master of your field. Maybe a little more if you are a pilot for the Blue Angels, and it certainly there are no short cuts when it comes to being an expert in real estate.

There is no ‘fake it till you make it.’ Fake it and you will be found out. And in order to make it, you need more than just the word REALTOR® after your name.

Steve McKenna & The Home Advantage Team have been the number one team in Arlington for more than 30 years. And with that comes the ability to anticipate, plan, organize and successfully close more transactions than anyone else in town.

So what does precision teamwork look like in real estate?

      It means:

      • Your phone calls and emails are always promptly returned
      • You are always up-to-date on the status of your transactions
      • Every member of the team is operating in sync
      • No balls are dropped
      • Your confidence in us only goes up
      • No question is ever ‘dumb’ (and every question gets answered)
      • Negotiations skill that come from having been through it before
      • Connections to only the best, vetted vendors, contractors, partners in town
      • Knowing how to price and market a home effectively

If these look like important qualities to have in your real estate team then give us a call. With thousands of homes bought and sold and all the knowledge and expertise that come with that, you can rest easy when you put your home in our hands.

        #10YearChallenge

A lot can change over the course of 10 years - people were still using MySpace, selfies were not a thing and neither was binge watching on Netflix (how did people live??). But it is comforting to know that some things don't change, and Steve McKenna & The Home Advantage Team were selling houses and making real estate dreams come true just as they do today.

The Home Advantage Team has evolved into a team of nine and remains the most successful real estate team in Arlington for the last 30 years (luckily there's no #30yearchallenge - yet).

Here are Steve, Erika, Mitzi and Donna from 10 years ago and today, and like a fine wine, have only gotten better with time.

Challenge us to help you buy or sell your home in 2019!
